IT'S FRIDAY

Most of you folks are jumping for joy 'cause the weekend is here. When you are retired everyday is the weekend. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. It's just that sometimes you get bored. That's what I'm feeling now.

This is just a temporary glich, so don't go feeling sorry for me. Usually I have so much going I can't even find the time to get it all done. It could be I have a slight case of depression. I have dealt with that for years, but am on great med's now. All the same even "normal people" get a little down now & again.

Yesterday I was at the computer all day, maybe spending too much time there, huh. But it's such fun reading all my friends & friends of friends blogs!

I have left salaried work and am now working for myself. I find it difficult to see the week in the old way I did: now every weekend day has the potential to be like a working day. Sorry if you are bored. Do you have any hobbies or causes that interest you?

I do. Am a volunteer for my neighborhood. Have started a web page, newsletter & am a block captain for our senior building here. I also will begin training tomorrow (if I can get out of this slump) to be a docent for one of our historical old plantation homes here in my city. I believe I just have the winter doldrums. Daughter left Wednesday to visit her son for a while. Miss her company.

United Way came to our neighborhood (along with 7 others), and wanted us to form a "rainbow coalition" (made up of all races) to better our neighborhoods. They asked for volunteers to be block captains. Each block captain keeps their neighborhood informed of community activities, problems (ie. drug activity), beautification projects,getting to know each other, etc. I live in a large apartment complex that rents to low-income residents. Rent is based according to income. I have not always been "poor", but was put into this situation by my x-husband. It has actually been a blessing for me. I love my place and am able to have my daughter with me (which is why I do not live in the senior bldg.) I was asked to not only be a block captain, but to be the block captain leader. I have not been a very good block captain I'm afraid 'cause I haven't met all the 43 residents of the senior bldg. yet. However, I did organize a Neighborhood Watch Meeting for all 8 blocks with the local Crime Prevention Specialist from our Police Dept. to speak. It was very informative, now I just have to put it into action. I also attended a class & graduated at the Police Dept. for Citizens Police Academy that was great fun! This may be more than you wanted to know, but that's it in a nutshell.

Its very interesting. Its an aspect of life in the States I don't know anything about.

Hope something happens to enthrall and entertain you..........I know what you mean about the weekends....I work from home...and during the week it is only because my daughter has to get up and go to school that I get up early etc....but in the school holidays the days are all pretty similar......hugs.....

oh sweet pea, the weather doesn't help us one bit for feeling good about ourself. Hugs and kisses....btw, there is no such thing as normal as we all have our quirks.
